We had Caroline and Chuck from Maata Waka Animal Control come to visit us. It was lots of fun as the tamariki were about to interact with Chuck, and learn about safety around dogs.
If a dog comes rushing towards us, we be still like a tree, with our arms to our sides. If a dog pushes us over, we be like a rock – this is also the same as our “turtle safe” position we go into if we have an earthquake! If we pat a dog, chin and chest is best.
And most importantly, if we see a dog on it’s own, we leave it alone.
